【Retrospective of André Brasilier】
A retrospective of André Brasilier opened in 2005 at the State Hermitage Museum in Russia and was highly evaluated internationally. On its return to France, Ando's also organized a Retrospective in Paris, which ended in great success. The retrospective in Japan, featuring the same content as that in Paris, was launched in October 2006 and travelled to Tokyo, Nagoya, Niigata, Sapporo and Fukuoka. The show comprised a total of 83 works selected by the artist himself, including oil paintings, watercolors, tapestries and ceramics from the early years to the present.

【André Brasilier Exhibition in Châeau-Thierry】
Tardenois, which lies about 100km north of Paris, has produced two great artists: Paul Claudel, a poet (1868-1995; his sister is the sculptor, Camille Claudel), and the painter André Brasilier. Both had and have a deep love for the region, acknowledging it as a source of their creativity. The exhibition (November 24, 2006-January 24, 2007) presented 30 paintings by André Brasilier created between 1965 and 2006 and which took Tardenois as their motif. They were also a homage to a stanza of a Claudel poem. While spending several years in Japan as ambassador, 1921 to 1927, Claudel frequently visited historical sites such as Nikko to gain further understanding of Japanese culture. He is also known as a founder of the Maison France-Japonaise together with the industrialist Eiichi Shibusawa.
【The "Inten" Exhibition of the Japan Art Institute held in Paris】
The advent of the Inten marked the notable return of a Japanese art exhibition to Europe after a 77-year interval, the last having been the 1930 Nihon Bijyutsuten in Rome, at the instigation of Taikan Yokoyama and others. The opening session on April 24, 2007 at Mitsukoshi Etoile, Paris, was well attended and the Japan Art Institute well represented by many of its members, from the president, Ikuo Hirayama down. Not only did Ando's arrange an opportunity for exchange between the master artist André Brasilier and prominent masters in the Japanese art world, but also made film footage of this showcase event. This 30-day exhibition concluded on June 23, 2007.
